FAQ on

Who can go to Zodiac 09?

Everybody involved in Scouting in Oxfordshire – Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network, Fellowship & Leaders.

Can members of the County, District or Group Executive come to Zodiac?

Yes!

Will we be able to set up camp on the Thursday evening?

Yes!  We intend to open the site up for setting up between approximately 6pm and 10pm that evening.

What can I expect to do at Zodiac 09?

The event is going to be crammed full of great activities for everybody during the day and top quality entertainment for all ages in the evenings. We’ll be announcing more details about exactly what these are going to be as they get confirmed.

How much will it cost?

The price will be £46 for each youth member and £27 for each adult member attending. For this you will get 3 nights camp, full catering for the entire event, 2 full days of a wide range of activities and 3 evenings of high qulaity entertainment.

Can I help with organising the event?

Yes! Please see more details on the team page.

Will I have to spend all weekend running activities?

No. We expect to ask leaders to help with some activities, but for a limited amount of time

When will we be able to start booking places on Zodiac 09?

Dates to be agreed, but likely to be in November 2008.

Are deposits refundable?

Deposits will be non-refundable once paid over.  This is to ensure that people are committing to the event.  It will be possible to transfer the deposit so, for example, one person could replace another.

Is there a day rate or a night rate?

There will be a day visitor package available.  More details will be available in November.  The options will be only for people to attend the whole weekend or day(s) – there will be no option for attending for 1 or 2 of the nights.

Are there any concessions for families with more than one child attending as some of our families are having to pay for 3 children?

We have decided not to offer concessions for families with more than one child. We don't believe it to be equitable to families who are only sending one child - effectively they would be subsidising the larger families. We also considered the position when going on holiday - there are no discounts for taking more than one child in those circumstances. What we will be providing is details of how families can apply for financial support to assist with the cost of the event - these should be available shortly.

Are there day rates and wiull they be different - one for youth members and one for leaders?

There will not be rates for two day attendance. The camp runs for 3 days and people will either be able to attend for the whole thing or take part in the day visitor programme, details of which will be published soon. It would be very difficult to administer having people taking part for a part of the event and we really want everybody to come and experience the whole of Zodiac 09.

How is feeding organised?
- is food brought to our area or do we go to an central dining area?
- how do we ensure that our youth's special diets and allergies are adhered to? - - what will be the timing of meals and will there be staggered sittings?

There will be a central dining area for the food. The exact timing of meals is yet to be determined, but each meal will run over a period of time to allow us to have time slots for each subcamp to go up for their food to avoid huge queues.

We will, of course, be able to cater for medical conditions if advised of these in advance. You will understand that we cannot make allowance for everybody's individual likes and dislikes, however. There will be a variety of options available for each meal rather than a single choice.
